Is Boatato.com Real or Fake?

Is Boatato.com Safe or scam? This has been a common question on ScamAdviser with many wondering whether to trust this online marketplace or not. Boatato.com is an online store that sells a host of clothes such as sweaters, jackets, and suits. But are they legit or a scam?

Read on as we discuss high-pressure sales tactics, huge discounts and so much more.

Boatato.com High-Pressure Sales Tactics

One of the things I noticed on Boatato.com is the use of high-pressure sales tactics. On the product pages, they include a timer with the words, “ Hurry Up, Sales Ends In”  meant to create a sense of urgency for the users.

On top of that, they also show the purported number of people viewing the product, and as you can imagine, it's such a high number. This is meant to create fear of missing out prompting people to act fast.

Additionally, they also have pop-ups claiming certain customers have made a recent purchase. All these are common tricks used by scam websites to pressure customers into making hasty decisions.

Boatato.com’s Huge Discounts

They say, when a deal is too good, you think twice. Hence, when I found that most of the items on Boatato.com had huge discounts like 80% off, I got curious. On top of showcasing different items with discounts, they claim that the more money you spend, the higher the discounts. For instance, the claim, Buy $55.00 save $16.00, Buy $70.00 save $20.00. This characteristic overlaps with what we see with scam websites and we have covered such as Iktops.com.

Lack of Customer Feedback

I struggled to find any customer feedback on Trustpilot, MyWOT, and ScamAdviser. Though this does not necessarily mean it's a scam, it does little to boost user confidence.

Furthermore, I also noticed that Boatato.com is relatively new having been registered in January 2024. This is according to the information I found on Whois LookUp and ScamAdviser.

Newer websites are harder to trust as there is limited information and customer reviews- in the case of Boatato.com- making it hard for customers to make an informed decision.

Boatato.com’s Copied Content?

Along the footer of the website, I noticed this statement, “We will continue to update new styles to meet your clothing requirements, I hope you can find your favorite styles in our store”.

Since scammers tend to recycle similar content, like the Uniqueness Scam Network, I was curious to see if Boatato.com had done the same. When I searched the phrase on Google, I was stunned to see multiple pages using the same phrase word for word. Websites such as Physikid.com and Laplatz.com. (See Full Below).

This suggests it is highly likely that Boatato.com and the others are part of a scam network that uses the same content and strategy to dupe people. Scam Networks have been around for a while with scammers simply changing the name and a few things but most use the same tricks such as high-pressure tactics to dupe people.

Bottom Line: Is Boatato.com a scam?

Overall, there are a lot of red flags that suggest Boatato.com may be a scam. The use of high discounts sounds too good to be true and so is the inclusion that the more items you buy, the more you save. Boatato.com uses high-pressure sales tactics to create a sense of urgency as well as fear of missing out.

I could not find any customer reviews which does not fill me with confidence. Additionally, Boatato.com seems to be using copied content from over a dozen other websites which is common with scam websites.

In general, exercise caution when dealing with Boatato.com as there are more reliable online fashion stores out there.
